Vehicle Rescue: Technician

We had a great turnout for this Vehicle Rescue Technician class and some strong work from the ladies and gentlemen that participated. Also, a big thank you to Pippin Towing & Recovery for providing the vehicles and setting them up for each scenario.

Vehicle Extrication

Our students trained on the various techniques and applications for vehicle extrication tools.  In extrication the goal is to remove the vehicle from around the victim instead of the victim from around the vehicle. This is to avoid further injury to the victim.

Flammable liquid Fires

Flammable liquid fires can be very dangerous and are not extinguished by simply adding water. Our students learn the different techniques for applying foam to effectively extinguish these types of fires.

Personal Protective Equipment

Our PPE plays a crucial part by protecting us and being our life support out in the field. We must have a thorough knowledge of every aspect of how our gear and SCBAs function, as well as, how to maintenance and inspect them.

Loading and Advancing fire hose

There are many various types of hose loads for different types of hose on a fire truck. Our students must be well versed in their ability to load and advance each type of load for each type of hose.

vehicle Fires

NFPA data indicates that fire departments in the U.S. respond to a vehicle fire approximately every 2½ minutes. Our students learn how to effectively and safely put out a vehicle fire.

Ladder Training

In the fire service we have many applications for ladders. For this training, our students practiced the skills needed to carry and extend a ladder and how to properly work from a ladder using a leg lock.

LIve Propane Burn

BLEVE or boiling liquid expanding vapor explosions are very dangerous. In this training, our students learned how to prevent BLEVE by using water to cool the propane tank and prevent it from rupturing.

Positive Pressure Ventilation

In this training, students learned how to effectively use positive pressure ventilation, locate, and extinguish a fire within a structure.

Live Propane Burn

BLEVE or boiling liquid expanding vapor explosions are very dangerous. In this training, our students learned how to prevent BLEVE by using water to cool the propane tank.

Vehicle Extrication

Our students had the opportunity to practice their extrication skills on various types of vehicles including a school bus, semi, and truck.

Foam Training

In this demonstration, our students were able to see close up how foam works to extinguish flammable liquids. After the demonstration, the students practiced their skills of flowing foam with a hand line.
